Slow This Morning, But Something Coming

Swell was almost non-existent in town this morning, and with the high tide it looked like Lake Pacific. The weather though, is impeccable. But for those who nosed around a little (Mash and MikeyB), a couple good rides were to be had.

While the nearshore buoy is almost dormant, there is some hopeful activity on the farshore buoy with swell starting to pick up showing 5.2 feet at 16.7 seconds at 7AM. If the swell angle isn't too steep this ought to reach our shores after dark, and if there is any longevity to it, we'll have some waves tomorrow. Again though, tides are high in the morning so may have to wait until it drops to get any reef action in.

It's time to start looking at the beaches regularly.

The sat pics show a three day progressive look at the NPAC wave maker for May 2-3-4.

At this writing, the SoCal buoys aren't showing any of the south that has beenin the water for the past few days. JDub and Jason got some nice shots of the recent south swell. Checkum' out.

Thanks to MikeyB for today's pics.

  2. Thanks John, I'll pass your compliment on to MikeyB who took the shots.

Mikey has the Olympus 770 while I have the 790, a newer model. What I've noticed is that the 770's pics are usually much better quality than mine with the 790. Also, Jason who puts up the DalyBread blogspot (link on my blog), has the Olympus 770 and takes killer, high quality pics with it.

Which I guess goes to show that newer model stuff isn't necessarily better model stuff.
