Spring, DST On The Way

Seems hard to believe but Spring is showing her slip, and the change to daylight saving time (DST) is next Sunday! Yep, March 9th is when we "Spring Forward!" so don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night (in the USA...In Europe you've got a different day...see link).

Around here Spring is evident by the morning high tide cycle; the warm sunny days and cool, crisp nights; the acacia in full yellow bloom; and with the rain waning, the cedar and juniper trees giving off full doses of pollen. The pines will be soon to follow with clouds of yellow/white dust enveloping the land. Everything is really greening up too.

Surf is starting to wind down, and some surprising, persistent south swells have been sticking around, augmenting the tired (see satellite image) and soon to be hibernating NPAC. Fifteen second plus pulses are showing on all the NDBC SoCal buoys, hopefully headed north, in our direction. Meanwhile we're getting decent size wind swell and the best spots are head high.

I'm teaching all day again and then have a few days off to grab some waves although Tuesday is looking like a down day unless that south can swing into the area. With that and some wind swell things could be good mid-week.
